Our Legacy

Sycamore Cemetery originated Sept. 15, 1899 with land donated by Charles H. & Harriet M. Hall. The first person to be buried was Viney Carrington in 1900. July 26, 1952 D. L. & L. V. Craddock deeded a right of way to the cemetery that is where the

road is today. Aug. 12, 1953 Claro B. & Opal L. Kayser donated land. In 1954 concrete tracks were poured. May 11, 1970Claro & Opal donated land. May 13, 1971 Lester & Lillie Myers donated land, June 5, 1989 Claro & Opal Kayser donated land.

Nov. 5, 1999 Bruce Wayne Kayser donated land. In 2014 with the donation of dozer, deisel and time the areas donated in 1989 and 1999 were cleared and seeded. It continues to be a challenge to maintain the beauty of our family / community cemetery.

With these listed property donations and yearly donations as well as a lot of hard work Sycamore Cemetery is what it is today. A special thanks to Okey, Hubert and Steve Miller and everyone else that contributed to names and locations of gravesites.

All the information that has been gathered from family and friends has been compiled to the best of knowledge from each one. Many years have past since some of the information was acquired. Most of these graves were marked with rocks, some with

probably wooden crosses that have long disappeared leaving it hard to locate the grave. It is our goal to locate and name all  who are buried here. There are only 7 unnamed, unmarked graves remaining.
